Location: Lockleys Football Club, off of Netley Ave, Lockleys (Netley Ave in turn runs off from the northern end of Rutland Avenue)
When? Fridays 4-5 p.m for 9 weeks, starting 30th April 2010 (the second week in Term 2) and finishing 25th June.
Who for? Boys and girls 4-7 y.o.
How much?
$45 for the nine weeks (includes 'Benefits Pack')
What to wear? Standard sportswear.  Footy themed clothing looks good but you don't have to have it.  Football boots are fine but not really necessary.  Note a lot of the pictures on the AFL's Auskick site are from Victorian centres which run very differently to SA ones.  We do not wear the black and red uniforms that are so prominent in AFL literature, posters etc.  The Gimme Dat commercial they ran was much closer to reality.
What else to bring?
A tennis ball or bouncy ball of similar size.  Marked with a name if possible.  A drink bottle, also named.

How to join

Register and pay online.
handball target with 'Dipper' putting his head through itThe process will refer you to a Centre Locator where we suggest you use the 'postcode' option, typing in 5032.
Our centre is referred to as LOCKLEYS F C (don't confuse it with LOCKLEYS NORTH P S which is another centre).

You can turn up on the day and fill in a form and pay but we really discourage this. We far prefer people to have registered/paid online beforehand.

What we teach

Over the nine weeks we teach eye/hand coordination, team discipline, football terms, and football skills.
We structure our programme around these coaching guides and encourage families to use them as well.  Children who practice from them between Auskick sessions really benefit.
By weeks seven and eight we will use Auskick rules to play a bit of a scratch match after some revision skills sessions.  Week nine will be entirely playing football.

Who teaches the children?

1. Unpaid volunteers.  People associated with the Lockleys Football Club.
2. Junior footballers from the club.
3. You do.  Mums, dads etc are vital.  For young kids to learn at Auskick it is ideal for them to be in groups of no more than four.

Important information

Parents need to make sure they, or an appropriate person, is there at all times.  Auskick is not suitable for drop off and return.  Toileting, injuries and security remain the responsibility of each child's family.
The nine week program continues without interruptions or extensions.  No session will be cancelled, no matter what Mother Nature throws at us.  Having said that please do not come out if you feel it is too hot or too wet.
One hour is the maximum length of the session but this can be a bit much for some younger kids.  If your child gets fidgety after forty minutes it is far better to finish then.  Children are more likely to enjoy themselves and want to return the following week if you do this.

Who supports our program?

1. The South Australian National Football League's West Adelaide Football Club.  West Adelaide are a prominent partner with the Lockleys FC and share a mutual goal in developing Australian Rules football in our geographical area.
2. The NAB, a sponsor of the program who puts serious money and time into supporting it.
3. The AFL
