PLAYER INJURY IN THE JUNIORS
First
aid
At a minimum we aim to have a qualified first aider present at all of our home matches,
able to go to the assistance of any injured players. In addition each team will aim to identify whether there are qualified first
aiders available when we play at away matches. Each team is issued a first
aid kit and this contains ice packs, bandages etc.
Qualified Sports Trainers are the ideal and will replace the first aider in the
older Juniors teams where available, and when their usage is directed by the
Committee.
Each club in the MWJFL makes a stretcher available and usually can provide further ice packs.
Ambulance
Ambulance transport is not an automatic club requirement after an injury.
However where a player has lost consciousness for more than a moment, where
there are serious pain control issues, or in other instances where travel by
private car is considered inappropriate; then phoning for an ambulance is
recommended. Note that the player's family is liable for the costs
incurred, whoever makes this call.
Insurance
Lockleys FC is insured through the
Australian Football
National Risk Protection Programme via JLT Sport. Player injury is covered by the
Personal
Accident part of that insurance.
A simple analysis of the insurance is that a family is expected to manage the
medical costs incurred and be aware of the restrictions on what is paid for.
There is a maximum amount that can be claimed '..in respect of any one injury or series of injuries to any number of persons arising out of any one occurrence..' ($10,000 in 2009). There are
exclusions. There are limitations (e.g. if you are treated privately you can claim for the non-Medicare medical costs associated with that injury
but that does not include the Medicare Gap) .
If you have an injury and associated expenses such that you wish to claim on JLT
please let the club know by
email, and then visit the
Personal
Injury Claims page of our insurer to download a claim form.
