UNDER EIGHTS AT THE LOCKLEYS FOOTBALL CLUB
Team officials
Note on game day the team also requires someone to volunteer as goal
umpire (the opposition provides the second goal umpire).
Training
times and expectations
► 5 p.m. Fridays only.
Variations in training time/location
During the season training will normally be at the Lockleys FC. Occasionally a special alteration in training time/location may be planned,
this would be announced at the end of the
previous training session. Please try to be nearby at the end of training, a
time when any messages are given out to families.
Expectations
Players are expected to be on time and attend all training sessions, unless
arranged otherwise with the coach. If unable to attend it is expected that
the coach is notified beforehand.
Infrequent or tardy attendance, or unexplained absence, will all impact on a
player's selection in the team.
This is a basic approach with all Lockleys FC Juniors teams.
U8 Modified Playing Rules
U8s play on a 1/3 size ground, customarily set up in the 50 metre arc of a full
sized ground. 15 players take the ground for each side (a normal Australian
Rules team is 18, but U8s don't have rovers or a ruckman). The U8s' ground is divided into 3 marked zones each
containing 5 players per side, the players are supposed to remain within their
set zones for that quarter. All players will be rotated through all 3 zones
(defenders, midfielders, forwards) as the game progresses.
Players can run 5 metres before they have to dispose of the ball. They
cannot bounce the ball. There is no tackling, bumping, soccering, or
'stealing' the ball from another player.
